FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Questions? Need to contact us?

A: For questions, please email lacrossewoodcreek@gmail.com. To keep up to date on program news, announcements and more please follow us on Instagram. Our website, https://www.woodcreeklacrosse.com/ is also a great resource for information.

Q: Is athletic clearance required?

A: YES! Athletic clearance is required by the school in order to participate in pre-season conditioning or tryouts. If you’re not cleared, you can’t play. You can find information on the athletic clearance process on the Woodcreek High School website under athletics.

Q: When does the season start?

A: Lacrosse is a spring sport. Tryouts are in the beginning of February and the season runs from mid-February to mid-May. Conditioning will occur throughout the school year with fall conditioning beginning in October. Practices are during the week and the timing is dependent on coach availability as well as field availability.

Q: Where will the Teams play?

A: We play teams such as Roseville High School and West Park but also teams located in the greater Sacramento area such as Christian Brothers. Games are typically scheduled during the week.

Q: Do you have JV and Varsity?

A: Yes, as the program continues to grow, we plan on running JV and Varsity teams for both boys and girls.

Q: How much does it cost? Is the uniform cost included?

Player Practice Pack cost: approximately $285.00. Uniform cost: Supplied by the school (must be returned at the end of the season)

The uniform is supplied by the school/lacrosse program. The uniform must be returned at the end of the season.

Q: What kind of equipment do I need?

A: Each player must have protective gear and a stick. The lacrosse program has some gear that is available for use; however, we highly recommend that you purchase your own gear.

The gear required by CIF consists of:

·   Women’s Lacrosse Stick (NCAA approved), must be a women’s/girl’s stick

·   Protective Goggles (get cage style, not the see-through plastic type)

·   Mouth guard

·   Gloves (optional for cold weather)

·   Cleats

·   Goalie gear is provided by Woodcreek

Q: What kind of lacrosse stick should I buy?

A. There are a variety of sticks to choose from. Girls use a stick that is the appropriate length for them (there is no short stick/long stick). Lacrosse Fanatic, located in Rancho Cordova, is a great place to purchase your stick and eye cage. You can try out sticks and the staff are very knowledgeable. We recommend spending between $75-$150.00 for your first stick.

Q: Is lacrosse a contact sport?

A: Girls lacrosse is not considered a contact sport; however, it is a high school sport, and the game is physical.
